Griffin Peddicord
Griffin came to yoga in January of 2009. It was more or less on a dare from a high school classmate. Sidelined from lacrosse because of a recent diagnosis of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, Griffin decided to give it a try. One class was all it took. He was going every day of the week. On a lark, he entered the Mid-Atlantic regionals – and won. Motivated by that victory, he started training for the National Championship.
Training six hours a day and still keeping up his A average in school, Griffin was ready to leave for competition in L.A. when the biggest blizzard in a decade hit the east coast. Every airport in a 300 mile radius was closed. Undaunted and determined, Griffin hopped in his jeep and drove through the night to catch a flight out of North Carolina. It was all worth it when he came home with the trophy for male youth division champion.
Instead of attending prom and walking across the stage to receive his high school diploma, 17 year-old Griffin Peddicord attended The 9-week Las Vegas Teacher Training in the Spring of 2010.
Griffin now trains and teaches at Bikram Yoga Charleston with David Kiser. He is freshman at College of Charleston, where he studies international business and economics.
