A Letter From Rajashree
July 10, 2011

Congratulations to all the competitors in the 2011 International Yoga Asana Championships. Everyone did a fantastic job representing their countries. A special congratulations to Joseph Encinia, winning the first place gold medal for the Men's Division. Also, congratulations to Quinn Morrisey for taking the silver medal for the Youth's Division. We are so proud! To view the event results, click here.
We were extremely impressed by the performances of all the USA athletes, especially our first place USA female, Afton Carraway. Even though she did not place internationally, she demonstrated beauty, grace, and sportsmanship. Competition is not about defeat, but about coming back stronger the next year as demonstrated by this year's champion, Yukari Miwa, who won in her fifth year.
Next year we would like to see more youth participation! As studio owners and teachers, please, help find a way to get more youth participation in your events and in your studios. You are our ambassadors and we count on you to help there be a larger turn out for the youth next year. Many of you are already working so hard to get the children to participate and we recognize your great efforts and thank you.
Yukari, Joseph, and Afton are ready for visits. If you would like to host them at your studio, please contact Ainslie at info [at] usayoga [dot] org.
Thank you again for your support and participation in helping us to achieve our dreams.
Sincerely,
Rajashree
